Post #0048 - The looks of a private pilot in the making

Dear Earthlings,

Me and GadgetGeek love to surprise each other and we would normally compete who gives the best surprise. And when it comes to surprise, I always be the fool one, mainly because I don't know how to keep a secret.

However, I finally managed to hush this. Well, almost. Because he guessed that we are going to have a heli ride. Yeah, right. pfft.

Anyways, one of GadgetGeek many life dreams is to fly. He once told me (5-6 years ago) that he wanted to be a pilot but was objected by his parents. Though it was objected and now he's in different career path, he intend to have his Private Pilot Lisence (PPL) sooner or later. To show that I am a good listener, I took him to the Subang SkyPark earlier this week.

Little that he know that he's the one that will be taking me out to fly.
(money can't buy) surprised expression : YES!
Normal Procedure

Checking on feul
As arranged with Mr. A who is an instructor and owns the flying club, he briefed GadgetGeek on Flying 101. An hour later, we are already on the runway - choosing which light aircraft that we would like to take.

We fly out of Subang, straight to city centre, then to fly over our "new house".. make two rounds above it so we could take an aerial view of the house.. also to cross over our "current house" and ends where we started. That's the first trip.
Taking over
Approaching TM tower in Bangsar
Entering the KL City
Aerial view of New Residence
the view of current home
I'm not sure whether I'm a party pooper or not, but half way through the flying (of the first trip).. I had motion sickness. Boooo! So GadgetGeek and Mr. A dropped me at Skypark and they flew for second trip to have a view on Straits of Malacca.

Apart from having a mini crash course pilot, Mr. A also do private tour with an affordable price!

Post #0047 - On the side of Youngster #2 health and everything in between.

Dear Earthlings,

We went to see the Paed Surgeon last week and decided that the operation of Youngster #2 will take place this Saturday morning (Though initially we wanted it to be on April 1st).
So the last meal will be at 6am, and the operation will start 4 hours later.

The Paed Surgeon suggested to have the operation after Youngster #2 first birthday. But after thoughtful consideration, we decided to have it earlier. The sooner the better. Insha Allah.
Applied for GL, however it was not approved. Hence, out of our pocket money it is.
Whatever it takes for our little baby. As parents, we always devote our lives to our kids isn't it?

Post #0046 - On the side of Youngster #2 health and everything in between.

Dear Earthlings,

I just got back from the inquiry with the Paed Surgeon clinic. So far it looks promising. But we haven't really discuss on the issue yet. Insya Allah, the detail discussion will be done in next 2 weeks because this coming Saturday we already engaged with the new Paed as to follow up on the last appointment.

Tentatively, we are planning for early April for Youngster #2 surgery.
I don't think I'm suppose to write about it here, but I just need to let it out.

Just so you know, this is one of the moments that I feel helpless and nothing I can do about it.
This is where I leave the rest to the Almighty.
Afterall, He knows best.
Insya Allah.

Post #0045 - On the side of Youngster #2 health and everything in between.

Dear Earthlings,

Eventhough it has been more than 4 weeks Youngster #2 being discharged of pneumonia, his cough still didn't subside. Hence, I could say that we've been visiting hospital almost every week. Lucky that Gadget Geek's company covers the hospital bill. Alhamdulillah. Otherwise, I'm sure we'd to fork more than RM10k as I'm keeping track how much the (total todate) hospital bill is (not including my hospital bill).

This shows how important it is to have the medical benefit, and I'm so grateful that GadgetGeek has moved to this green side. Otherwise, it's definitely going to throw a hefty cost on us.

We went to the same hospital, but decided to change the Paed. The one we regularly see is good, but we want second opinion and a better one, as the new Paed we seeing is an expert in child respiratory.
So yesterday, I waited outside his clinic (ard 8:30am) to queue and managed to get the third slot. So, time to see the Paed is roughly 11am.

The Paed did some background check and lecturing on us.
As a result, we have to change some of our lifestyle because Youngster #2 have sensitive nose.
First to get rid the (fragrant) humidifier and anything that has chemical smell (incl. electronic repellent etc), AND no more on the shelves meal eg: cereal based.

He told that the upstream of being sick is because two things - the food that we eat and the lifestyle. If we can control these two, insya Allah  we can hardly be sick.

Not only that, he suggested on making home made baby food. Well, it is not that I don't want to cook for my baby. It is just that I don't have time to cook for Youngster #2's dinner.

At the Youngster's school, they were given with freshly cooked meal - 3 times a day (breakfast, lunch and tea time). Except Youngster #2 get twice a day. Namely breakfast and lunch. The School normally give them rice with vege and some protein.

On weekdays, I reach home about 7++pm (provided I punctually leave from office). By then I have to sort out Youngster #1 and GadgetGeek's dinner, chores etc (I'm lucky enough to tapau dinner from my moms). To cook Youngster #2's food will take me another 30 minutes, and by then Youngster #2 will be crying for food.
So the best way is to feed him with ready food. I know, I'm just making excuses.

I promised to myself, starting from today, I will give him no other than home cook meal.
Plus, we are lucky that we don't have any pets and GadgetGeek is a non-smoker. Otherwise, I'm sure we'll be sweating in the Paed's room. Furthermore, he also reminded us not to have any fast food, especially for Youngster #1. And lots more advises. Apparently, we were in his room close to an hour.
So you can imagine how torture we were listening to his lectures.
Hahaha..!

The advise he gave us suit him with the Prof. Dato' Dr. title. No wonder people willing to queue to see him. We admit that he knows what he is talking and doing. (Like, duhh!)

Unlike our previous Paed, this new Paed decided to treat the runny nose instead of cough. Mainly because the runny nose is the cause to everything. From cough to pneumonia. We have to monitor and prevent it from happening again as Youngster #2 has the tendency for asthma.

Ditch the puff (that has to be given every 4-6 hours) and other sort of drugs that the previous Paed prescribed.  Stick to the new one (He gave us 3 syrups and 1 nose spray) and to see him again in next 7 days. I hope this is the end for the never-ending cough and runny nose.

On the other note, do you believe that everything happen for a reason?
Since I gave birth to Youngster #2 (we believe that he is one special boy), I lay my trust more than everything else in this world when it comes to the power of Almighty. Previously I do believe and hold the phrase but, not really into it.

We, as a human wants the best for us and a mother always wants the best for her kid(s). But what if Allah decides to test us?
This where we need to buckle up and live with it

Like why the Almighty opened the door for GadgetGeek to shift to another field leading to having the benefit of unlimited medical claim? We see the picture as Youngster #2 needs it a lot more than we do. Or maybe Almighty wants to give us extra good points for taking care sick child, since we are not-that-good Muslim? We just can never know the real reason, except to link the events.

First it was hard for me to accept it, after one to another incident. But again, there is a reason why the Almighty got me married to GadgetGeek as my fate. (Though previously, he's the type who I wanted to avoid the most) We stand side by side and always support each other. I couldn't imagine my position if I were married to someone else.He is my pillar of strength.

With every happening around me, I'm still syukur upon Him.

As I quote,

(QS. al-Hadid: 22-23)

Post #0044 - 8 days to go for our rendezvous

Dear Earthlings,

I already did the booking last Thursday and our flight will be on next Monday morning :) Haven't decide on the itinerary yet, but I'm sure it's going to be a simple one. As long as we get to spend our time together.

So far, the surprise is well sealed.

Post #0042 : Lining up events

Dear Earthlings,

Well, my presentation for confirmation (next Monday) has been postponed due to my superior’s unexpected early delivery. So, tentatively next 2 months is going to be the presentation date. Though my superior advised to proceed on the scheduled date, but I decided to wait until she’s back in the office. Not sure whether is it a good decision or bad.

Anyways, few plans have been lined up for upcoming months.

End MARCH
“Just the two of us Rendezvous”. One BIG surprise for GadgetGeek which I don’t think he would think of! Haha.. Anticipation is off the roof! (But I have yet to make any booking and I pray for the weather too)

APRIL
mid : Youngster #1 Sports Day (to be held in Setiawangsa/Melawati). GadgetGeek already got her a pair of running shoes. Spoilt!

End : Primary School Reunion (which I can’t wait! The last time we met was circa 1992) Yet to decide on the menu, but GadgetGeek wants to sponsor a lamb. Tengok dulu camne.
Most probably we’ll do at my parent’s place. Therefore, I need to coordinate the table setting etc. Since the number of guests is less than 100 pax, I don’t think it is necessary for me to rent a canopy. Tables can be arranged under the covered entrance.
It has been a while since I last visited my parents. I think more than a month.

Shame. Shame. Our house is less than 5 minutes drive to my parents’ place, but we can’t find time to pay them a visit! I hope by now, my dad has completed the left side of the house. Otherwise, I don’t know where to place the guests! Hahaha.. boleh?
Will have the pre and final meeting two weeks before the event.

MAY
1st : Youngster #1 birthday
Not expecting to have a birthday bash.

JULY
Plan to have kenduri doa selamat for our 4th anniversary. Insha Allah, subject to the venue. If we can’t agree on it, I think we’d to pass. Funny isn’t it? Venue will always be a problem to us.

AUGUST
Youngster #2 birthday and Raya! (Yet to decide on the place to Raya. We had our Raya at my parent’s place last year because I was on confinement. Does that count?). Which also reminds me of ganti puasa. Aisey.. so easy to tak puasa.. so hard to ganti.

Post #0040 : All these while, I thought we can just pick any shoes from the shelves!

Dear Earthlings,

Given a choice between a pair of stilettos and sneakers, I choose the later, any time. Years ago, I love to collect sneakers. But once I got pregnant, I stopped wearing it. It was due to kaki anak gajah and can't fit to any shoes. As a result, I started to wear slippers, til todate. Just because it is more comfortable.

Yesterday evening, GadgetGeek asked me to get pair of running shoes so 4 of us can do some sweating in the Park.

5 hours later, I got myself this -

We went to Adidas Pavillion (as advised by GadgetGeek because this is the place he got his) and was attended by Shakira. A very helpful salesperson. This trip has given me a new perception  of Sports Store whereby, you have to pick your shoes according to your foot.

First of all, the Salesperson asked me what type of feet I have. Her question was replied in blank face.
Since I was clueless, she took out foot mapping board whereby I have to place my feet on it. After few seconds, when I lifted my feet, and wallah.. there were footprints.

There are few types of foot print. Hence, it is advisable to pick shoes according to your foot type. As to me, mine is normal. So I get to pick which ever shoes that I want/like (*grin*)

Well, GadgetGeek has reminded me numerous times that the shoes is not for mall walking. Great, he reads my mind.

Post #0038 – How far can you go with your bicycle?

Dear Earthlings,

Let me tell you about a friend of mine. I know Za.hariz for the past eight years. We are the touch and go type of friend where we only check on each other once a year, (at least). Hahaha.

In 2004/2005 - He was skinny as a lidi, but eats a lot.

3 years ago, we (me and GadgetGeek) noticed that he started to build up his body when he was residing in New Zealand. (Picture not available, but I assure you, his body was HUGE!)

and, 2011 (back to semi skinny)  -

But still goofy as always.

We started to chat again last week for the year of 2011.
I was (still) surprised that he went for a personal trip half way around the world on his bicycle! Ironically, his adventure started mid last year and has just recently ended. He travelled from Litang County in the Sichuan Province of China to Omsk in southwestern Siberia, on bicycle, alone! He rode a bicycle all the way along this route, covering more than 7000 km.
He gathered his funds through personal savings and donation from friends and family. One thing for sure, this guy is crazy, did it because of passion and for fun! There is no intention to break any world record.

In a day, he cycles roughly about 100km. The longest trip would be 213km a day. Together with him, his loyal 30 kilos luggage which contained pots, stove, plate, oats, honey, sleeping bag (and only God knows whatever inside his bag)

He camped in the mountains for days until he meet civilisation. If enters town/city, he would stay in cheap guesthouse, if kampung.. he will sleep at local’s house, if in the wild, he’ll camp. Sleeping side by side with wolves :)

Faced many near death experience, for instance running out of water during his cross over 400km no man land in Taklamakan Dessert, next to Gobi Dessert.. close to the Mongol border.  He brought 12 litres of water and finished it within 36 hours. Cycled without water until he was flat. Luckily, there was army truck convoy saw him and gave him water, redbull, roti nan etc.
Not only that, he also got lost in the mountains of Tibets many times. Just to name a few.

Todate, I still couldn’t digest that he did it. Unbelievable
Eight Countries! Over 9000 KM! Zero Baths! One Bicycle! One Man.

His next mission - to conquer Russia to Africa with nothing but bicycle.

Come and join me to support him in Facebook Page – zforzahariz!

Catch him on the news -

Dear Earthlings,

I know it's a long way to go for Raya. We have another 5 more months isn't it? Unlike previous years, I don't really care about celebrating it.

For instance, during my first year of marriage. I was down with morning sickness. So I'd pass.
Second year, I didn't have time to make one Raya dress. So I just picked what ever I have in the closet.
Third year, I was in confinement. (About a week after I delivered Youngster #2.
Fourth year.. which is this year.. I think it's about time for me to have a nice and proper Raya dress.

Right now I'm eyeing for batik. (because the weather is blinking hot) However, the Batik price in KL is killing me. Minimum RM300++. So I contacted my cousin (who lives in Shah Alam) but her family runs a batik business in Kelantan to customade my order. Price wise, (almost) 50% cut from KL's price tag.
Hehe.. Smile on my face

Post #0033 - There is a different between less pain and painless!

Dear Earthlings,

My one day leave was granted for last Wednesday. The plan is to pamper myself. Together with me, was BigSis. It took us more than a month to plan a day out. Mainly because she has tight schedule. Lil Sis I was suppose to join us, however, she cancelled last minute and decided to spend three weeks with her husband in Dubai.

My day started as usual. Had to send off the Youngsters to the Nursery (which located close to 20km from our house) This is the con of having a distance Nursery. Sigh.

The first place we went was Beijing Reflexology, located in Jalan Rahim Kajai 14, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. Had 50 minutes session for the price of RM38. Their Reflexologists are all from China, hence they are not fluent in Bahasa/English. They can only communicate with simple English like numbers and the ever famous word in Bahasa - SAKIT.
Next trip was the Sommerset - Nails and Waxing, Jalan Telawi 3 Bangsar. (Landmark :  in front of Affin Bank). At first I was a bit reluctant when BigSis pursuaded me for waxing. Then, after taking deep consideration, I decided to give it a go AND, I wasn't kidding when I say, it's eff SAKIT! Seriously, I thought what can be worse than giving birth?

Boy, I was wrong! It took me an hour and a half to complete the session. (Owh, puh-lease.. It is not because I have many hair but it was more to i-need-to-rest-a-bit-to-relieve-this-pain)

All I can hear was the waxer saying, 'please relax'. I was like, hellooo.. how can I relax in time like this?? (more curse)
MyGod. Half way through, I finally asked for a towel to grab. By then, the pain was (still) not tolerable but manageable. Less screaming though.

Despite the fact that I chose for less pain wax I can still feel the pain Damn* Damn* Even worse, I signed up for the package. Great. I spent more money for more pain. *Very brilliant*

My waxing tips for the first timer (so you can be less shameful than me)-
1) You have to physically and mentally prepared.
2) To grab something so you can channel your pain  (towel/cushion).
3) Make sure your pubic hair is long enough, will be easier to pull the strip. Otherwise, they will use tweezer.
4) Do not come a week before or a week after you having menstrual, because our skin tend to be more sensitive during that period.
5) Choose less pain wax.

FYI, there are many types of waxing. The common one would be brazillian and hollywood (or some called it, Sphynx). Brazillian wax removes the hair from the entire pubic region, except for a small patch just above the vaginal area.
While, Hollywood wax removes the hair from the entire pubic region. Ie - total gone. So, take your pick.

After an hour and a half in the torture room, I then had manicure and pedicure at their Concourse Area. I wouldn't say it's an enjoyable one because that day, my body was like prone to injuries.

Our outing ended with a HUGE lunch in Chillies, BSC. We were starving as hell because there was no brekkie taken!

Post #0032 - The road to recovery

Dear Earthlings,

Met my Physician on Tuesday. Stepping on scale and needle poking for blood test are normal things for routine check up.

As expected, I gained few more pounds
Actually, I was quite surprised because my tummy shows some improvement. I mean, it shrinks a bit :P

Because of that, my doctor increased my dose. Last month, it was 100 micrograms, this time - 200 micrograms. Great. Just what I needed.

The doctor asked me many-many times, on how I feel. Told him that I feel better than last month. He wondered why I still put on weight. (aging = low metabolism?) hahaha

Anyways, the Doctor rang me yesterday.. informing the blood test result. Ironically, my body overly produce the hormone. So, he wants me to cut down the intake to 50 micrograms per day. (which is good news actually) hehe
But at the same time, it explains why I always wake up at 4.30am every morning, just to clean up the house

Well, if my body overly produce the hormone, I'll go hyper. Vice versa.
Til my next visit.. which is next 29 days.

Dear Earthlings,

Right now I'm planning for a surprise.. dedicated to none other than GadgetGeek. Already asked him to block one day for me. Unfortunately, he can only confirm by end of this month. Sigh.. Nak date ngan husband pon nak kena buat appointment.

Anyways, I hope he can confirm asap because it's hard for me to keep a secret. Especially when it comes to 'a day trip' :) Yeah, need to do some flight booking.
See, I told you I can't keep a secret! Too excited :P

Owh. There is no particular celebration. I just want to spend time with him.
