Post #0125 - The road to recovery

Dear Earthlings,

Went for check up as I felt chilly last Saturday. One of the symtoms, if I feel chilly it is something to do with the dose I'm taking. Either underdose or overdose.

Anyhoo, had blood test as usual, but sad that I lost another two kilos in a month.
I'm not on diet nor under food control.
So it's pretty disturbing.

According to the doctor, I have to monitor my weight for two weeks. If lost another kilo, I have to go through comprehensive test.

Post #0069 - Day Two : the day that I become a pirate

Dear Earthlings,
My operation was scheduled at 11am, 19 May 2011. By 9:30am, a nurse came in and asked me to change for OT attire, as well as to take the drugs.

I was advised to lie down on the bed as soon as I consume the drugs as it makes me drowsy & sleepy.

At 10:25 am, this picture was taken -
Yes, I forgot how the pain is going to be.  Hence, the smile.

The Doctor, marked on the upper side of my right eye brow so she will not confuse on which side she needs to operate.

I was still awake when I was wheeled from the room to the operation theater. But slowly went to "high mode" at the waiting area.
Since I'm taking GA (General Anesthetic) the drug was in the form of liquid where the Anesthetist jabbed me thru IV. I remember I heard the Anesthetist said "Ubat ni sakit sikit"

Though I was in 'high' mode, I managed to reply, "ok. aduhhh.. sa.." ... (because I can feel the liquid flowed into my nerves and veins. It was so painful)
However, I didn't finish the line as I immediately went to a deep sleep. zzzzz..
(the doctor & the Anesthetist must be saying that this girl will only shut her mouth if she sleeps)

According to GadgetGeek, the nurses sent me to the room around 12:30pm with this look -

Seriously, on that operation day, I talked for 1-2 minutes then dozed off for an hour.. awake for 2-3 minutes, then dozed off again.
The pain killer and antibiotic
Asked the nurse to remove this IV - painful!

Did I mentioned that GadgetGeek left me for his work about half an hour after my operation? and I only get to see him again afternoon next day. Yes, I was alone in the ward which the reason why I keep on checking my office emails.
I was so damn bored!

Post #0068 : Day one - the day that i become a pirate

Dear Earthlings,
Right now, i'm at the hospital. Checked in at 10 am this morning, and did some check ups. By 11:15am, GadgetGeek left me for his meeting. And guess what, i went to my office instead. This is the downside of having office just in front of the hospital. I think i enjoy staying in the office than having the rest in the ward.
Yeah. F.r.e.a.k.
I still cant register myself how painful it's going to be until the doctor in charge mentioned that she will give a week of medical leave. Geez..
I even planned out for a movie on this friday. And i thought she will give me two days mc. *blur gile*

To be on the safe side, i finally asked her how is the operation going to be. Whether there will be stitches after she removes the lumps with blade etc.
So tomorrow i'll be wearing the eye patch. Hahaha. coincidently same date with the launching of pirates of carribean.

Post #0062 - The Road to Recovery

Dear Earthlings,

In my earlier post,  I did mentioned that my minor surgery will be done on my birthday, right?
Well, after one thoughtful consideration, I have decided to postpone for next two weeks. By then, I hope my work load has subside.

Hence, the date shall be on 4 May, but I have to check in a day earlier as agreed.
Right now I'm having second thought. Though it just a minor operation, I feel so freaking nervous. This was due to my conversation with the Anesthetist.

During my meeting with the Anesthetist, he asked me few questions, and one of the issue was on taking the blood sample.
I told him that no need to take blood sample, because I already took it 2 weeks ago and my count is normal. And it has been like that for the past two months.

However, I think he got upset because he asked me several times on the same question and wanted me to be sure on that (To me, if he didn't believe, he can request for medical record from my Physician. Simple as that). Then he started to bla-bla-bla.. and the only phrase that I can catch was - "You have to be sure. This is matter life or death".

Haiyayaiyaii..
Now I go all cuckoo because of this.

Post #0058 - The Road to Recovery

Dear Earthlings,

For the past two months, my blood count has been normal, and on the last check up my weight has been static - which is a good thing.
So my next appointment with the Physician will be in next two months.

Anyways, I noticed there were lumps under my right eyelid. Went to see the eye specialist yesterday and she advised to go for minor operation to remove it. This is something like stye left-over, and the glands are blocked.  She can't give any medication because it won't do any good. The operation will take around 20 minutes and she will remove it with blade.

I was given two options whether to have it on GA or not. Without any hesitation, I want to be on GA.

It took me quite a while to decide on the operation date. I wanted to be on end of this month, but the Dr will be on leave. So I picked next week, Thursday to be precised for the operation. (The Dr. only do operation on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)  Instead of check in a day before, I mentioned to the Dr. that I will come on the day itself.

However, I went to see the Anaesthetist this morning. Due to my health record, I was advised to check in a day before so they can do some monitoring. Told a friend about this, and she was like, "Why the heck you check in the hospital on your birthday?"

Great. I totally forgot about it.

Post #0032 - The road to recovery

Dear Earthlings,

Met my Physician on Tuesday. Stepping on scale and needle poking for blood test are normal things for routine check up.

As expected, I gained few more pounds
Actually, I was quite surprised because my tummy shows some improvement. I mean, it shrinks a bit :P

Because of that, my doctor increased my dose. Last month, it was 100 micrograms, this time - 200 micrograms. Great. Just what I needed.

The doctor asked me many-many times, on how I feel. Told him that I feel better than last month. He wondered why I still put on weight. (aging = low metabolism?) hahaha

Anyways, the Doctor rang me yesterday.. informing the blood test result. Ironically, my body overly produce the hormone. So, he wants me to cut down the intake to 50 micrograms per day. (which is good news actually) hehe
But at the same time, it explains why I always wake up at 4.30am every morning, just to clean up the house

Well, if my body overly produce the hormone, I'll go hyper. Vice versa.
Til my next visit.. which is next 29 days.

Post #0021 - The road to recovery

Dear Earthlings,

Last week I called up my Physician, enquiring the blood test result. Alhamdulillah, everything is normal. So I asked him, "Since it's normal, now I can stop my medication?"
He then said, "No. Your counting is normal because you are on medication. So, please continue your intake"

Haih.
The feeling - tak best.tak best.tak best.
Who on earth can discipline oneself taking medicine every day? for the rest of her/his life. (Exaggerating) .

Post #0019 - The road to recovery

Dear Earthlings,

I know I’m just being a drama queen because the illness that I’m having is not a chronic one (compared to some other people).  But still, having to consume medicine every morning for the rest of my life brings a shock to me. Underneath, I do feel demotivated and depress. And sometimes think that I don't deserve this kind of illness.

Do you know how hard it is for me to discipline myself in taking the medicine? The tablet needs to be taken at least 30 minutes before meal so it can absorb and be effective. I would normally pop a tablet when I stuck in a traffic on my way to work. But during weekend, I always take after meal, just because I'm one forgetful lady.

Previously I claimed that I don’t feel that healthy. So today, I went for check up (a week earlier from the scheduled date) and I was right. The Dr said the dose that he gave me last month was not enough as my body couldn’t produce antibody at the moment. Hence, he needs to increase the dose. Earlier, I was given with 50 microgram, now he’s giving me the dose of 100; maximum 300 microgram. More than that, a surgery needed to be done.(which I hope not!)

I mentioned to the Dr that I feel very chilly lately. And the Dr told that it’s the symptom. Plus having menstrual for more than a week is also a symptom. He physically checked my feet whether there is any swollen. Syukor, I’m not having one. Phew!
I hate to say this, but my hormone cycle is everywhere and haywire. Sigh.

3 weeks ago, I weighed 46 kilos. Today, my weight is 48. Meaning I gained 2 kilos in less than a month! In a year, I might be able to top up another 22 kilos. Making the total weight of 70 kilos. Yikes, obesity.. here I come! Not to mention.. my belly. My God! I think it measures more than 34"! How can I not be stressed about this? My #2 pre pregnancy waist was around 25", and now the only pants that fits me is my maternity pants, yet I already reached my pre pregnancy weight! I think I have to stop looking at my old pictures.
Oh, extra headache because I need to change my wardrobe.

I also claimed that I couldn’t sleep well at night. According to the Dr, I’m having JTT symptom. Short term for Jiwa Tak Tenteram. Hurmphh! Other than that, the Dr keep on reminding me not to skip the medication. Or else, mati cepat. Haiyaaa..
Very helpful indeed.

So Dr, I'll be seeing you again in next 30 days!
Great.

Post #0018 - The road to recovery

Dear Earthlings,

I think the side effect of this illness has started kicking in. Lately I feel freezing, though the weather is not that cold. Hey, we are living in Malaysia.. so what do you expect? Winter?

Wearing socks plus fleece slippers are still not enough to keep me warm. On top of that, I have to wear long sleeves and robe every night.
In the office, wrapping myself with a sweater is a must. A jacket/blazer couldn't do the trick. Not forgotten, socks to keep my feet warm. Lucky my department located next to the lift, and I always park my car near to exit because I hate people seeing me in this attire.

Like last night, BigSis mentioned that I'm getting fat and need to shred some pounds. Told her that it's the symptom and there is nothing I can do about it. Anyways, when it comes to exercise my gynae advised that any exercise can only be done 6  months post c-section so the 6th month will be expiring by this coming March. We will see how exercise can help me losing weight.
Well, Britn.ey does at least 500-1000 sits up every day. Maybe I can do that. Hahaha

Actually I don't mind on getting more flesh, as long as it's between the bmi bracket. What concern me is the size of my tummy. It's so huge.. and people seeing it would think that I'm expecting.
So the best way I can do is to join them and pretend that I'm expecting. Plus, avoid shops who have people distributing the pamphlet - especially the slimming centre etc. Because I feel offended each time I held the pamphlet in my hand.

Not only that, I always carry Youngster#2 in baby carrier, so it would hide my tummy. That's why you rarely see we taking the second stroller out.
Hahaha
GadgetGeek said that I'm living in denial. If that makes me happy, why not?
Moreover, the Dr advised not to have any unnecessary stress, otherwise things might turn sour. For the first 6 months, my appointment will be every month as the Dr can monitor the progress and/or pattern. So, my next appointment will be after Chinese New Year. On the second thought, I think I need to see him tomorrow. I don't feel that healthy anymore.

Post #0013 - The road to recovery

Dear Earthlings,

I don’t know whether to look it at the bright side or not.
Well, it started when me and GadgetGeek underwent medical check up for our Residence facility insurance application.  If anything happen between 3-5 years from now, the Takaful insurance will cover our facility 100%.

We went for medical check up at the bank’s panel clinic sometime in mid December last year. GadgetGeek passed the check up, however I didn’t make it. There was something wrong with my blood count etc. Disappointed with the result, I went for second opinion.. merely because the result was contradicting from the last I got in early November.  Plus I was a little bit reluctant to pay the medical check up penalty since I failed the test. FYI, the penalty is more than RM Three Thousand, you know. Isn’t it expensive?

So yesterday I went to Ta.wakal since it’s located behind my office. Got to see the Physician & Rheumatologist and run few tests.  The preliminary and physical test was done at the clinic, while  blood and ultrasound test were done at the lab.
After I completed the tests, I returned to the office and came back to the hospital about 5 hours later.
The blood count and the ultrasound test proved that it is a confirmed and positive case. There is a little bit of swelling, a mild one, and the doctor told me that the swelling is still new. Average about 1-2 months old.

As mentioned by Dr. S, to treat it as a good news because of the early detection. Hence can do drug intake. The bad news is, I’m on medication for the rest of my life : ( If things got worse, then surgery is needed.. which I hope not!
For a start he gave me 50micrograms dose. According to him, if it is untreated, the person will only have about 3-5 years to live because it is a silent death. The moment you know, you will passed out, comma and tata.

GadgetGeek is in opinion that my work stress triggered it of, for the reason that it occurs the moment I started working. Well, the truth is.. it is not because of the lifestyle nor food. Mainly because it runs in the family.
I guess there is nothing much I can do about it?? No matter how particular I take care of my health etc, the chances are still high, right?

The side effect of this I will lose my appetite, but will gain weight rapidly, freezing most of the time, sleepy, exhausted, forgetful and some other things that are not so pleasant to hear. Hopefully the drugs will balance it out.
No wonder I feel so exhausted lately. Every night, I go to bed by 8.30pm or 9pm the latest. I thought it was due to my hectic schedule - got up at 6, rush here and there etc.

Anyways, today I went to Amp.ang Put.ri and managed to get myself protected. Took Rubella shot as well as pap smear for the cervical cancer etc. The result will be out in next 7 days. According to my Gynae – Dr. M, there is a tendency of miscarriage if I get pregnant due to this illness. Hence, the pregnancy has to be closely monitored.

To me, I’m still disbelieve.
